The rate of foreclosures in Fairbanks is creeping up and the high cost of keeping homes warm may be a factor.
AP reports Fairbanks Neighborhood Housing Services executive director Laura Burke as saying that homeowners are struggling to keep up.
The Fairbanks North Star Borough counted 150 foreclosures that occurred through September in the Fairbanks Recording District. That’s up from 137 for the same time period last year and 102 in 2011.
Elsewhere in the state, foreclosures are down.
