Murkowski said she is especially concerned as an Alaskan, since North Korea is located relatively close to the state.
“For us in Alaska, North Korea is practically within spitting distance,” she said. “This is why our missile defense system that we’ve been working on for so long has been so important. We pay attention when there has been unrest or greater unrest in North Korea.”
The senator called the situation “unsettling” and said she was learning more about it daily. She said the subject is bound to be front and center when Congress reconvenes in early January.
