Eleven of Alaska’s 20 state senators have no full-time job during the nine months of the year when the Legislature is not in session, according to financial disclosure forms filed Monday with the Alaska Public Offices Commission.
Legislators earn $72,615 between salary and per diem during the 90-day lawmaking session, and they take home more through office expense accounts and reimbursement for travel and housing. The exact amount paid to lawmakers ranged from $86,424 to $149,674 in 2014.
Outside finances of all public officials are revealed annually on March 15 through disclosure forms, providing a look at state leaders’ personal finances and connections: from full-time employment to board memberships and property ownership to the connections of children and spouses.
