A man, whose legal name is Santa Claus, is running for a city council seat in North Pole, Alaska.
Claus launched a write-in campaign Thursday after no one filed for candidacy and is facing only one other write-in opponent, according to the Fairbanks Daily News Miner.
To my friends in North Pole, Alaska: This Tuesday, please write me in on your election ballot and vote for me for North Pole City Council at North Pole City Hall. Thank you :-)}
The Kris Kringle candidate — whose driver’s license and other identifications bear his legal name of Santa Claus — will need voters to write in his name by Oct. 6 in order to win the position.
The white-bearded jolly looking man describes himself as a child advocate and Christian monk.
He has held two write-in campaigns for president of the U.S., with his last attempt in 2012, according to his Facebook page.
He reminds his thousands of followers on Facebook to not send him “requests for presents” as “the greatest gift one can give is love.”
