One of the new efforts by elected democrats to shut down dissent has been the Exxon Knew movement. This is an attempt to go after energy producers for knowing about the impact of manmade global warming due to their corporate operations and burying the information from the general public.
It turns out that this movement has been created out of whole cloth by leftist foundations pouring millions into media projects that make up and report the claim.
The Rockefeller Family Fund admitted last week that it is pouring millions into so-called media organizations like InsideClimate and various projects at the Columbia University School of Journalism with a specific outcome in mind.
Both the Rockefeller Family Fund and the Rockefeller Brothers Foundation have been supporting public interest journalism targeting the fossil fuel industry over manmade global warming. Basically the foundations are purchasing journalism with a specific outcome in mind.
Columbia has vociferously denied that their investigative reporting on Exxon and other energy producers has been purchased, but one only has to follow the money to see otherwise.
InsideClimate pieces have found their way into the pages of national papers and other media. The LA Times is one such example. It printed a piece from reporters from the Columbia University School of Journalism. Their funding from the Rockefeller foundations was not mentioned.
Fraud on the General Public?
The other piece of the Exxon Knew movement comes out of democrat Attorneys General at the state level. 16 of the 18 democrat Attorneys General announced a conspiracy last week to prosecute climate skeptics under RICO statutes for disagreeing with the paid for manmade global warming myth.
Rationale is that those that disagree are committing fraud on the general public or perhaps are simply infidels in the eyes of glowarmer true believers.
There were six Attorneys General – all democrats – at the meeting along with manbearpig himself, algore. Now you can say everything you want to about the First Amendment, settled science, and proper respect for the Constitution. But these are all democrats and those things don’t matter at all.
In this post-constitutional nation, we are back to the point where government is nothing more than force, raw, brute force. If these guys get their way, the outcome will be the vision of the future penned by George Orwell in 1984 “If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face – forever.”
And Exxon – Mobil is first up to bat.
In a related story, the fully politicized Obama Securities and Exchange Commission ruled last week that Exxon must allow a full shareholder vote on CO2 emissions and climate change risks in its financial statements. The resolution is brought by the NY State comptroller and is another venue of assault on Exxon by democrat-led NY State.
