Here’s an editorial by James Brooks which may have planted the seeds for the Governor’s “Don’t Panic” State of the State speech.

Empire Editorial: Whatever you do, don’t panic – In the pages of Douglas Adams’ “Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” is a description of the fictional electronic encyclopedia that gives the book its name. voices visionWith the Voices for Vision Budget Survey, Governor Walker and Lieutenant Governor Mallott sought to access two of the state’s most important groups of stakeholders, the public employees charged with ensuring responsible stewardship of public resources, and the citizens of Alaska who expect public servants make strategic and effective decisions about how those resources are managed.

This report is an overview of the Voices for Vision survey results, providing an examination of the suggestions by both public employees and Alaska citizens in relation to the efficient and effective use of State of Alaska resources in this time of declining revenue.
